Bad Breath? Mints and Gum Can Help

Would you be surprised to learn that consistent bad breath could be an indicator of more serious dental problems? In fact, if you have consistent bad breath, you could have gum disease—or you could have gum disease soon. Luckily, there are many things you might consider doing to prevent these issues. Similarly, there are a number of things you can do to instantly, albeit temporarily, to improve your breath.

For example, you may already be aware that you may want to grab a breath mint or some chewing gum if you’d like to enjoy fresher breath immediately. However, as a general guideline, we suggest choosing sugar-free breath mints or chewing gum. Sadly, if you pick mints or gum that has sugar in it, your breath could actually become worse because the sugar will help bad bacteria thrive. Still, please remember that mints will only cover your bad breath while chewing gum can actually promote saliva production, which carries plaque and bacteria away from your pearly whites.

However, if you have consistent bad breath, please set up an appointment with us. Of course, you’ll need to brush your pearly whites for two minutes at a time and floss daily if you’re hoping to enjoy a healthy smile and fresh breath.
