Following the fabrication of wax “design” models (shown on previous page), temporary crowns are fabricated out of a high-strength, tooth-colored resin to follow the desired wax design. The teeth are shaped to allow dental crowns to be placed and the decay to be removed. Dr. Scott R. Adishian will then place your temporary crown in Pasadena, California. Your temporary restoration is then adjusted and cemented. The temporary restorations serve to protect the teeth while the final crowns are being fabricated and are useful in the evaluation of the aesthetics and function. If the patient has a satisfactory result with the temporary restorations, they are used as a design for the final porcelain or metal-ceramic restorations.
